Lamont’s on Fire
Quick, get the man some water! (No applause necessary, I’ll be here all week.)
The New Haven Advocate put this right on the front cover of this week’s issue, tucked into the bottom right corner–the one everybody reaches for when turning a page, right? One of the unfortunate things about this brief article about the MoveOn/DFA rally around both organizations’ endorsements of Lamont is that it came out late Wednesday, which is nearly a week after the rally. Then again, the plus side is that it keeps the story alive for another week!
“I get this question everywhere I go,” Lamont continued: “How come we can afford to spend $250 million a day for the war in Iraq, and we can’t afford universal health care for every single American?” Why, he asked rhetorically, can’t we afford to invest in schools and in energy efficiency?
“I’m in this race because I think George Bush’s priorities are fundamentally wrong,” Lamont declared. “And if Joe Lieberman doesn’t want to challenge them, I will!”
