Get Yer Absentee Ballots Right Here

I wish I knew how it felt to say something like, “I wish I could be here to vote, but I’ll be on vacation. I’m set up with a non-refundable all-inclusive trip to the Bahamas for the first two weeks of August.”

Well, as a full-time student and marginal blogger–that’s not a luxury I can afford. Oh, but if I could I would totally be able to pitch in and do my part for peace and Democracy in Connecticut.

If you meet the following criteria, you can get an absentee ballot to cast your vote and spend August 8 in the Bahamas:

If you will be unable to vote in person in the Tuesday, August 8th Democratic primary you may apply for an absentee ballot application, which you may use only if you will be unable to appear at your polling place on the day of the primary, election or referendum for one of the following reasons:

1) your active service in the U. S. armed forces
2) your absence from town during all the hours of voting
3) your illness
4) your physical disability
5) your religion forbids secular (non-religious) activity on that day
6) your required performance of duties as a primary, referendum, or election official at a polling place other than your own during all the hours on that day.

Connecticut does not allow voters the option of voting by mail for convenience. You must meet one of the 6 criteria listed above and will have to select one of the 6 criteria when you complete the absentee ballot application.

Visit the Absentee Ballot section at NedLamont.com for more information and links to download the absentee ballot application forms. The state isn’t fooling around here, you really have to have a legit reason to vote absentee, so please make sure you qualify to vote absentee if you apply for a ballot.

Another great way to do your part before your out-of-state vacation is to utilize the revolutionary Family, Friends and Neighbors tool at Ned Lamont’s website. Sign up, search for your Family, Friends and Neighbors, and send them some personalized postcards–at no cost to you!
