Lamont/Lieberman — Neck and Neck

It’s a “statistical dead heat” as they say, with Ned Lamont leading Joe Lieberman 51 to 47. The MOE is +/- 3.8%

The Courant has an AP report on the new poll numbers.

Here’s what LamontBlog has to say–and it’s well put:

[T]his means Lieberman is now going to dump every dirty trick and negative ad – probably $5 million worth – into desperately trying to save his political career, because he knows if he loses the primary, that downward momentum will carry into November. There are two and a half very long weeks to go. This is no time to rest.

All this poll tells me is that we can win this. I believe this election is truly ours to lose. The biggest mistake we can make is assume that we’ve already won. Our hard work is paying off, but we’re going to have to work a hell of a lot harder if we’re going to celebrate on August 8.

Let’s dig in, and do this thing. If you haven’t yet, please utilize the revolutionary Family, Friends and Neighbors tool. If you can, consider making a contribution to Ned Lamont–which will be matched dollar for dollar.

Yeah, but… if Lamont’s favorables among Democrats are 26-10, and he’s already up to 51% in the primary polls, Joe’s ads are just reminding people why they don’t like Joe. People don’t know “who is Ned Lamont,” but it doesn’t seem like they care, since at least he’s not a world-class asshole like Lieberman.
