Lieberman’s Priorities
The most important thing in Lieberman’s world right now seems to be Ned Lamont’s tax return. Senator Lieberman had an opportunity on July 6–at the debate–to ask Lamont a question about anything.
Did he ask what Lamont would do for Connecticut? No. Did he ask Lamont what he would do about the 40+ million uninsured in this country? No. Did he ask Lamont about a plan to generate and keep good jobs in Connecticut and the U.S.? No.
He asked Ned Lamont to release his tax returns–and purportedly asked this question on behalf of the AP.
The most important thing in Senator Lieberman’s world is most certainly not Ned Lamont’s tax return, but since it would be unbecoming of a three-term Senator to get on his knees and beg for votes, and because the things that are important to Senator Lieberman are not the same things that are important to you and me, he has to send these knuckleheads out to Lamont HQ as a diversionary tactic.

Last night in New Haven, Lamont met with supporters, one of whom asked about his taxes:
I’m gonna have them ready to go by Friday and they’ll be released on Friday…but it’s more to the point, if this is a primary that’s fought on the issues we’re gonna [talk] about…universal healthcare…the education system…good paying jobs…youth violence in New Haven and other cities…the war in Iraq…we’re gonna win this primary and Senator Lieberman knows it.
