New Britain: At the Center of CT’s Political Universe

New Britain Community News is reporting that one week two weeks (see Update II) from today, a candidates forum will be held at Central Connecticut State University–right here in New Britain. Mark your calendars, and clear your evening because this event is scheduled to be four hours long:

The forum, which is set for July 18th, 6:00-10:00pm at Torp Theater in Davidson Hall on the campus of Central Connecticut State University, could make New Britain an important stop in the primary elections, if the opposing Democratic candidates attend. There is no word yet on which candidates will be in attendance.

The August 8th Democratic primary features two hotly contested races.

I hope all the candidates show up. If they do, where else can you (possibly?) see John DeStefano, Dan Malloy, Ned Lamont, Chris Murphy and Joe Lieberman all at the same forum?

No where else. That’s why I love New Britain!

Update: I just found out that Dan Malloy and John DeStefano have other plans Tuesday the 18th: A Live Debate!
Update II: I’ve heard that the candidates’ forum may be pushed back to July 26th so that Dan Malloy and John DeStefano can attend. The NB Community News Front Page has a brief update:

July 11, 2006 – Reportedly, the Candidate Forum originally scheduled for July 18th at CCSU has been delayed, possibly to the 26th. That would make it only two weeks out from the primary.

I hope so!
