Night Off
I’m taking the night off.
I’m taking a page out of the book of Bob, and I’m going to do my own thing and clear my head a bit tonight. This has turned out to be the biggest rollercoaster ride of my life, and when I rushed out the door to meet Ned back on January 17–I never pictured things unfolding the way they have since. I’m now a part of something bigger than myself, and I just happen to have a weblog and a passion for writing.
I didn’t start any of this (nor did any of the other bloggers). The people of Connecticut have been waiting for a real choice for a long time. In fact it’s the typical complaint of apathetic voters everywhere who justify not voting in any election by saying, “What difference would it make? One asshole or the other?”
When it comes down to August 8th, and I enter the voting booth, I’m just another resident of Connecticut. I’m just one voter who’s going to stand up for peace, for women’s rights, for equal opportunity in education, for affordable healthcare, for renewable energy, and for a progressive future. I’m going to very gingerly pull down the plastic marker next to Ned Lamont’s name, and then I’m going to very carefully place my hand on the big red lever, take a deep breath, and give it a hearty life-affirming pull. It’s sure to be the most satisfying CLANG I’ll ever hear in my entire life.
That’s my role in this race. I am one of tens-of-thousands of Connecticut voters who are ready for a candidate to vote for without compromising our beliefs or jeopardizing our futures.
That candidate is Ned Lamont.
And really, I’m taking the night off. No more posts until the morning, but a song to keep you company…

Hey spazeboy, I’m breaking my blogging silence just for you.
“This has turned out to be the biggest rollercoaster ride of my life, and when I rushed out the door to meet Ned back on January 17–I never pictured things unfolding the way they have since. I’m now a part of something bigger than myself.”
