CTBlogger gives M. Jodi Rowland-Rell some sound advice, highlighting a Christopher Keating article in the Courant:
“Every Boy Scout is taught that when you build a fire, the key is at the end, you put the fire out,” Caruso said, following release of the report. “In particular, look at the embers because they could still be burning. If you don’t do it, it usually leads to a forest fire. I think that’s what the governor has sitting in her office there – a potential forest fire.”
Caruso, who defended the analogy by citing his 35 years in scouting, stopped short of calling for Moody’s resignation, saying only Rell can make that decision. But the governor should closely read the report and reconsider her support for Moody, Rell’s longtime friend, Caruso said.
“What we’ve raised is probably what a lot of people want to say but don’t have the guts to,” he said. “If we don’t learn from history, we’re doomed to repeat it. … That’s why I’m sounding the warning bell through this report.”
Moody and Rell declined to respond to Caruso’s statements.
Chris Murphy met with Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton to talk about issues (Boughton stressed that they spoke about more than just immigration). Isn’t it nice to have a congressman who listens? Check it:
Immigration reform is a key issue [Chris] Murphy hopes the new, Democrat-controlled Congress will tackle.
“It’s one of the most difficult issues Congress is going to confront, but I hope we have the courage to take on issues whether they are popular or unpopular,” Murphy said after the meeting. “This month and next month, I’m going to be sitting with municipal leaders and immigrant rights groups. I have my own views, but I want to marry my thoughts with the thoughts of the people of the district.”
The two politicians said they found consensus on most matters, including immigration.
I’ll have to ask CTBlogger if that last line is a good thing, or a bad thing.
It’s not a good thing or a bad thing it NOthing. Just a bunch of political posturing by two people who are going to probably battle each other in ‘08.
Boughton’s immigration card is his only card and it’s getting old. Murphy should just take the high road, nod to the mayor, and just walk away. Political grandstanding by a mayor who has no problem using illegal immigration for his own political gain ala Mitt Romney.
