Another Alderman Vacancy in New Britain
CT, New Britain, Town Blog February 28th, 2007After the crap that happened last time, tonight’s meeting should be interesting.
Unfortunately, it’s last on the agenda:
Item #
10.) Appointment of Alderperson. Purpose: Filling vacancy created by resignation of Alderman Salvatore Bonola. P. Catanzaro, J. Carroll
Tonight’s meeting starts at 7:00pm:
The Common Council meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month in Council Chambers at City Hall, except in July, Aug, Nov and Dec. when there is a meeting only on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Public participation starts at 7:00pm. The Common Council meeting immediately follows public participation.
It’s unlikely that I’ll be able to attend. That’s the downside for me (and for accountability) of being a full time student. Homework first, local politics second.
Update: From the comments, proof that not everything is a controversy and that New Britain Democrats can hang together:
The Council is set to fill the vacancy tonight with Lori Rocha, a former alderwoman from Ward 2 who previously served on the all at-large council.
Rocha received unanimous support from the Democratic caucus (11 Council members). She also received an endorsement from Ward 5 DTC members to fill the vacancy for the term that ends in November.
