On reading MattW’s post at MLN this morning, I began to wonder if New Britain has any local progressive heroes who have yet to announce their candidacies. Is there a local progressive hero that will challenge Republican Mayor Tim Stewart?

I think there is, but it’s someone I don’t yet know. I happen to like MattW’s idea:

[I]f people are into the idea, I’d love for us to curate a series of profiles, live-blogs, video interviews, etc as the election approaches, so MLNers across the state can get familiar with the next decade’s progressive leadership. After all, with all the influence we can get this year, we should at least know who to root for!

So, if a progressive Democrat plans to run for mayor in New Britain, I’m offering to assist them with posting video interviews, video messages, and to act as a volunteer blogosphere liason.

These things require such little effort on my part and on the part of the candidate, but they can reap tremendous rewards. If no progressive New Britain Democrat takes me up on the offer, I’ll be happy to help other local candidates.
