Letter from Jodi Rell
Because I posted scans of my acceptance letters to Wesleyan University and Trinity College, I thought it would be interesting to post this letter that I received from Governor Rell yesterday imploring me to stay in Connecticut now that I’ve got a college education:

I think it’s a good idea to encourage Connecticut’s college graduates to stay in the state, and I hope that these letters from the governor are convincing.
Bah. Color me unimpressed.
If Jodi Rell really wanted recent college graduates to stay here in the state, she’d support comprehensive universal health care and she’d generously fund affordable housing initiatives.
The letter’s cheap talk…action is what is needed to stem the tide of young people leaving CT for greener pastures.
Congrats, Beau. I lived and worked in the Middletown area for a lot of years and still love Middletown. Eli Cannons – best brew pub, wonderful owners, great staff, good grub, awesome beer; Community Health Center (you’d love it’s origins, I worked there for years); O’Rourke’s Diner (once it’s rebuilt…Brian O’Rourke is a great man); (forget the name) the cemetary on Washington Street going up 66…great for walking; Wadsworth State Park…great for running, mountain biking, cross country skiing, walking…need I say more??!!
I think of you often…you’re one of the people the future of social changes hinges on.
Peace, my friend,
Shawn
