Guide to Videoblogging Updates
When I published “Spazeboy’s Guide to Political Blogging” last month, I received a couple of very valuable things in return: Generous contributions and good feedback. It’s nice to know that my efforts are appreciated, and that so many are taking the time to provide input to improve the guide. But looking at the guide as it was, I knew I’d have a hard time adding, updating, or revising the guide with all of the great feedback because it was essentially a 15 page post! Wordpress is great for a lot of things, but editing a long-ass document in one text window is not one of them. So to aid me in all future updating (and to speed up load times for you) I’ve split the guide into 31 separate pages.
I’ve also gone ahead and inserted ads and links to recommended products from Amazon. So if you’re checking out the section on adding an external light, looking for a good handheld microphone, or need an accessory mounting bracket, you will get a good idea of the going rates from Amazon. Not only that, but buying through those links is a good way to support the guide to videoblogging if you found it helpful.

Can’t contribute, but want to support the guide? Use your favorite social bookmarking site to help me spread the word. I’ve got a handy bookmarking link right at the top of the main guide page.
Have you considered self-publising this book on Lulu.com? You could get an ISBN number and get it listed on Amazon and other book sites for a very reasonable figure. You could also get invited as an author to forums like FireDogLake and Booknotes on C-Span.
I did some quick calculations on Lulu and a perfect bound 48 page book in black and white with a soft bound color cover would cost less than $6 a copy to print. If you choose to sell it for more than cost Lulu takes a 20% commission. I think you should check it out. As much as videoblogging is an evolution of text blogging there is a vast audience that might be interested in videoblogging who isn’t even involved in blogging at the moment. Have your guide available on Amazon, Lulu, and to bookseller searches is within your reach for a very modest amount.
