The Smashing Pumpkins’ new video is getting some love in the blogosphere from both stereogum and the fine folks at Hipsters United. I’m about to give it a little more.
There’s just something about it that clicks for me. Could it possibly be the fact that Billy is shown wearing some normal attire in this one? Or could it be that after the Tarantula video, there was nowhere to go but up?
Whatever the reason, the new video is great.
As you read on HU, I totally agree. I really like the vibe of the new video.
As someone who remembers getting uber-excited in the summer of 1996 any time Tonight, Tonight came on MTV (remember, they used to play videos?! — I think this appeals to the sensibility of the mid-90s alt fans. Plus, it’s just so damn pretty.
