Twisted Sense of Humor
One of the resources available at Wesleyan is something called a “Personal Research Session.” I can enter the topic of a research paper, the name of the course and professor that assigned it into an online form at the library website and a librarian will schedule time to meet with me for an hour and help me track down some scholarly sources of material. Awesome right?
How’s this for awesome:
Are you working on a research project? Do you know all the relevant indexes, databases, reference works, and other resources available in the library, and do you know how to use them effectively? Would you like to have some help in finding and using all the library and Internet have to offer?
As a service to the Wesleyan community, Wesleyan’s librarians are available for personal research sessions which you can sign up for to have a librarian do all your work for you. We will even write your paper or give your presentation. Please fill out all the information below, and send us your credit card number, and we’ll take care of everything else.
Just when I was getting tempted (flashbacks to my signing of the honor code be damned), I continued reading:
Just kidding. But we will make a list of useful reference works, online indexes, and other sources for you, and show you how to use these tools to find lots of relevant information quickly. So, save yourself some time in the library and on the Internet, and spend the time you do use more efficiently, by signing up for a personal research session.
Librarians have a strange sense of humor.
The research paper is for American Political Economy, and the topic I’ve tentatively chosen to write about is “How do corporations/associations/industries mobilize politically to protect their business models?”
(I’m accepting feedback and input on this. Hint hint.)
