Returns

Colin McEnroe, who has for some reason kept me on his blogroll in spite of the fact that I have not posted since October 2008, is making a return to radio Monday as a guest on Where We Live:

Speaking of Colin
Yes, Colin McEnroe’s on the show Monday. I’ve informed the media (CTN will be there), the Facebook group “Bring Back Colin McEnroe,” and the Governor’s office (they declined comment). It will be the most important event of the winter in Connecticut, no question. Plus, he’ll probably make fun of me.

Where We Live airs on WNPR weekdays at 9:00 am, and you can listen online as well.

And in a way, I’m back too, dipping my toes into the frigid blogwater one post at a time.

Blog for Choice 2008

Blog for Choice DayLast year on Blog for Choice Day, I wrote a little bit about why I am pro-choice, and on this 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, my reasons have not changed:

  • I’m pro-choice because the circumstances under which women may need to make a choice are infinite.
  • I’m pro-choice because I’m a man who is very much pro-woman.
  • I’m pro-choice because I have no interest in establishing government jurisdiction over the uterus.

Another reason why I am pro-choice has recently occurred to me. I am also pro-choice because of the sad state of affairs that is abstinence-only education. Encouraging teens to be abstinent is a worthy (if impossible) goal, but not at the expense of leaving them unprepared to practice safe sex. It’s like taking a bunch of kids whitewater rafting without life preservers — after all, if they stay in the boat, they won’t need them. In circumstances like these, unplanned pregnancies are more likely. Freedom of choice is necessary.

Hold Fast: Something New for Your Bloglines

Matt Browner-Hamlin started up a blog the other day called Hold Fast.

For those of you keeping score, that’s two new sites by two Matts in two weeks. Be sure to add the Hold Fast blog to your feed reader of choice. Instructions/info on how to use Bloglines (and the benefits of feedreaders in general) here.

Shirts

What a loose end this has turned out to be. I never boosted my RSS subscriber count to anything close to 130 — it’s been holding steady at around 80 — and as such will have never given away these shirts. That would be a shame, because they are cool shirts.

So, I’m going to withdraw the gambit to boost my subscriber count and just offer the shirts to the first RSS subscribers to send me a message following the instructions in the feed footer.

Details about the shirts here. Subscribe to the feed if you want the instructions on how to claim one.

What’s Happening?

All these things…

…and probably nothing else.
