Tom Swan at YearlyKos

Tom Swan managed Ned Lamont’s campaign for U.S. Senate last year, and was a speaker at the “Ned Lamont: What Really Happened?” panel at YearlyKos. In the video clip below, Tom is asked “what happened in those first days after the primary?”

As promised yesterday, here is a short clip from the full panel video.

This past Friday in Chicago, Ned Lamont made a surprise appearance and spoke briefly at the panel regarding “what really happened” during his campaign for U.S. Senate.

On a somewhat related note, NedLamont.com was re-launched on 8/8/07 with a new look, a new message from Ned, and most importantly some new tools for staying involved. The new site is definitely worth checking out.

I mentioned previously that I attended a panel called “Ned Lamont: What Really Happened?” The panel was broadcast on the web by USTREAM.tv but for some reason is not available on their website (most of their other YearlyKos clips are). Now that I’m home, I have uploaded my uncut 73 minute video of the panel discussion for those of you who are hard core enough that you just have to see it.

The problem with the video is that I didn’t pack my tripod. The majority of the video is steady, but when I have to shift my weight or move the camera — next stop, shakesville. Thanks to some advice from CT Bob, I’ll be investing in a telescoping table-top tripod that will fit into my carry-on.

So here’s the full video:

Who Regrets Voting for Joe?

TParty at My Left Nutmeg and Jonathan Singer at MyDD are raising a valid question that bears repeating here. Basically, if you could do it over knowing what you know now about Joe Lieberman’s record (voting for and supporting the surge) versus his rhetoric (“nobody wants to end the war in Iraq more than I do”), would you vote for him again?

This past weekend at YearlyKos, a very similar question was posed by Jesus’ General. Unfortunately, the General was not actually in the audience — he ordered one of his soldiers to ask it on his behalf. The question he wanted answered was “What are Lieberman’s popularity numbers now in Connecticut?”

Update 2: Per a request in the comments, here is a rough transcript of what Tom Swan is saying in the above video. It’s probably helpful to read along while he’s speaking:

Tom Swan: Lieberman is in the low 50s which is about as low as he’s ever been. I think Quinnipiac did one a few months ago … there hasn’t been one I’ve seen recently maybe Survey USA. The level of disdain towards Joe as Liz said before about buyer’s remorse … Many people, the majority of voters were over 47 years old which meant that they probably voted for Joe six times previously between Attorney General, that was his third run for Senate, and Vice President, that’s five times. …on a statewide basis they had a history of voting for him…a certain level of comfort in it. They didn’t want to feel bad. But if we had it to do over again I think we’d kick his ass.
